The Managerial Role of Pharmacist

The Managerial Role of Pharmacist

Introduction

A pharmacy manager is a pharmacist who reports to the owner (proprietor) and is responsible for all elements of the business, including hiring and firing employees, business administration, and financial and performance planning. He is also responsible for maintaining and enforcing policies and processes to comply with existing community pharmacy legislation (Al-Arifi, 2013) on quality of pharmacy practice.

Human resource management

Human resources refer to the people who work in the pharmacy, or the department inside the pharmacy that deals with hiring, firing, training, and other personnel matters. Human resource management is undoubtedly the most crucial part of pharmaceutical practice. Its goal is to hire a motivated and competitive workforce to meet the demands of customers. It also covers methods and concepts for identifying and keeping a talented and motivated workforce. Human resources are the most expensive investment, but they also offer the best chance of gaining a competitive advantage over rival pharmacies.

Measuring pharmacy quality

In a pharmacy the owner, pharmacists’ managers and technicians must become more aware of the movement of value driven health care. There is always a high demand for evidence of quality and value in this sector (Nau, 2009)

Management can also be defined as the action taken to achieve one's predetermined objectives. Planning, organizing, leading, and controlling are the functions that make up the management process (Al-Arifi, 2013).

Managers should be always aware of the changes taking place in the domestic environment as well as around the globe on human resource issues and their developments. By being up to date they can scan their environment on the ongoing basis and when they detect threats they can transform and seize the opportunity (Anyim, et al., 2011).

Conclusion

Whatever the fields we work in when we are working as a manager in our respective fields the one management which is very essential and vital is Human Resource management. All managers if want to be successful must manage the available Human Resources efficiently.

  1. A manager's responsibilities are always determined by their managerial level. Even though senior managers appear to have less obligations on the surface, decision-making is the most difficult responsibility a manager has, because a small error in decision-making can put the organization at danger. This is a fantastic article. Thank you for providing this information from a pharmaceutical context, which is really interesting.

  3. Pharmacy managers have a statutory obligation to establish, implement, and maintain policies and processes to comply with the legislative requirements of operating a licensed pharmacy, in addition to overseeing personnel to verify that they are following practice standards.
